New Office Building for Liftshare, Attleborough, Norfolk
A project to create a rural office for Liftshare who match car drivers with those seeking lifts (www.liftshare.com)
This building will sit lightly on the earth, with no deep foundations or excavations. It will be operated using on site generated electricity to run computers and lights, and to provide a small amount of heat when outdoor temperatures dip below 0C. Renewable energy is a good low carbon resource.
The building will face onto a meadow, turning its back on the busy A11, with a hemp and lime wall on the road side. Cowls on the roof will draw fresh in through the building to allow it to be ventilated without opening windows or air conditioning.
