Wood is an abundant resource, which is hugely underexploited. Coppice provides an easy and efficient source of fuel for domestic heating and if local wood is used, heating can be zero carbon. 1 kg of dry wood provides about 4 -5 KW of energy (not to mention the warmth it provides as you cut it!)
Did you know that coppiced woodland absorbs more carbon dioxide than mature trees which is another reason for keeping woodland in regular management.
