Graphic Design & Social Media Assistant

Job summary

This individual will be assisting the architectural practice with a range of creative activities, including graphic design, website, and social media development. You will be exposed to a range of design and photography software and help with creating high-quality marketing pieces.

Modece Architects are an award-winning architectural practice established in 1985. We specialise in highly sustainable contemporary architecture. We use natural materials for healthier and environmentally-friendly buildings. We mainly work in the residential sector as this sector has historically been where the higher demand for eco architecture has come from. However, we also work in the community, commercial and tourism sectors. Our clients include private individuals, community groups, small businesses, charities, and trusts.

The practice also has a rich history of architectural research, development, and innovation. We are currently undertaking an R&D project into the use of hemp stalk in construction.

The practice is based in The Old Fox Yard in Stowmarket. The Old Fox Yard is a historic inn with courtyard, now the home to 8 businesses. We are in the process of converting the yard into Stowmarket’s Design Quarter; a place for design and artistic individuals and businesses to work and collaborate. Modece work closely with the newly launched Fox Yard Studios based in the yard. Fox Yard Studios is Stowmarket’s new art gallery and workshop space.

Essential skills, experience and qualifications

We are looking for someone who can work well with other people as you will generally be working closely with colleagues. You will have an interest and some skill/ability in art and/or design. You will need to be comfortable using a computer and be able to learn new design and graphics-based software. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, lateral thinking, problem solving and presentation skills.

Other Opportunities

There will also be opportunities to get involved with other aspects of the practice and the wider Fox Yard Design community as a volunteer on non-working days, e.g. helping out at community events, and the chance to get involved in other enrichment activities (e.g. visits and talks).

As a joint collective, all roles will be involved within an ongoing wider production of a single ‘atlas’ document, in which we will be carefully curating individuals work and assembling it into a single, presentable document for future job prospects.
