Our residential extension for a historic cottage on the Suffolk coast is now complete, with our clients happily settled in. We recently visited the site and found it beautifully settled into the landscape, with the landscape growing back around it.
The project adds a new main bedroom and living room to the flint-and-brick cottage, extending onto what was once an unused patch of grass at the rear. Clad in contemporary black charred timber, the extension sits quietly among the surrounding trees. A glazed link connects the new spaces to the existing, creating a light-filled transition that frames views of the landscape while preserving the character of the original home.
Inside, the extension opens into generous, light-filled rooms that connect seamlessly with the outdoors, through both the extensive glazing and the glass link that ties old and new together.
